To live a healthy life we ought to eat a balanced diet.  The diet should include fruits, vegetables and grains each day.
A balanced diet is eating the rightful amount of food and a wide range of food. The range of food in one's diet should include
  • proteins
  • carbohydrates
  • vitamins
  • mineral salts
  • fats
Eating well plays an important part in maintaining good health.

  • Base your meals on starchy foods as these give you energy. Choose wholegrain varieties, or eat potatoes with their skins on they contain more fibre.
  • Eat at least a fruit and vegetables a day.
  • Eat more fish. Eat at least two portions of fish every week, including one portion of oily fish such as mackerel or sardines.
  • Cut down on saturated fat and sugar.
  • Eat less salt – no more than 6g a day for adults.
  • Get active and be a healthy weight.
  • Drink plenty of water, about six to eight glasses of water every day.
  • Don’t skip breakfast because it gives you the energy you need for the day. (National Health Services)
